What drew you to Five Lakes?
I like the idea of fighting for the “little guy” and having done this sort of work before, I recognized that Five Lakes had the systems and people to really make a difference in people’s lives in the most effective way possible. I jumped at the chance to join this team.
What is the most rewarding part about your work?
Hearing the relief that clients feel when we first speak never gets old. Often, clients will mention a poor experience trying other methods and express gratitude that we are truly here to help.
How would you describe your philosophy or approach when working with clients in debt?
I always keep in mind that I am talking with people facing something that has brought them years of stress and hardship. I like to be patient and reassuring and give clients the space they need to move forward comfortably.
How do you define a “successful outcome” for your clients?
A successful outcome begins with a client starting their program with a complete understanding of what to expect, and ends with the client graduating having paid off all of their debts and already enjoying the benefits of increased cash flow.
What advice would you give to someone who’s hesitant to reach out for help with their debt?
Take an honest look at how the next few years are likely to go. If the plan is to struggle with minimum payments with no realistic hope of getting out from under the principal, I would tell them to consider a better way to spend those years.
What’s your life like outside the office?
I have three kids. I love enjoying the entire spectrum of childhood adventure vicariously through them, and sometimes I even manage to have the occasional date night with my wife!
