What inspired you to pursue a career in law?
I was a Business Major in College and took a Business Law class. I was hooked!
What is the most rewarding part about your work?
When someone feels totally hopeless about their debt, and I get to help them realize that there’s hope and a way out of it.
How would you describe your philosophy or approach when working with clients in debt?
It’s all about recognizing you’re talking to someone in a vulnerable financial position. So it’s very simple: Be compassionate and understanding.
What advice would you give to someone who’s hesitant to reach out for help with their debt?
I often tell clients who are nervous about the program, “I have been practicing law for over 35 years — do you think I would jeopardize my law license for something that wasn’t legitimate or didn’t work?” That helps put people at ease!
What’s your life like outside the office?
I enjoy riding horses and Harleys, spending time at the beach, and being around my adult children whenever I can.
